The Alphatec ProFUSE demineralized bone scaffold is a porous, malleable allograft that is derived entirely of human bone; this provides sponge-like compressive properties and shape memory qualities to the scaffold, which allows a surgeon to compress the ProFUSE and place it into a small space. Following placement, the product will expand to foster maximum contact between the spacer and the endplate of the vertebral body, in a way that is designed to promote fusion due to the natural osteoconductive construct and the osteoinductive potential that are ideal for rapid bony ingrowth.
The ProFUSE chips are a unique blend of cortical and cancellous particles that also provide excellent handling characteristics. ProFUSE comes prepackaged in a proprietary vacuum infusion packaging system (VIP), which allows for enhanced infusion of cells and bone marrow aspirate, designed to provide maximum healing potential.
