The Visalis 100 system enables the surgical removal of the natural, diseased lens from the eye during phacoemulsification cataract surgery. The system is designed for maximum patient safety and features a completely closed design. There is no internal tubing requiring cleaning, thus eliminating the risk of cross-contamination, while increasing the predictability of outcomes. The system's adaptive power control (APC) provides additional safety by delivering surgeons the minimal power necessary during the procedure, and a surge security system that stabilizes the anterior chamber. The stroke is measured and stabilized by a microprocessor, and an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) with large display, touch-driven control, and voice confirmation allows easy adjustment of the system.
Phacoemulsification is performed with a piezoelectric handpiece controlled by either a panel switch or linear control via a system footswitch. Vitrectomy adjustable cutting speed from 60 to 700 cuts per minute, with an available single mode cut. Due to inherent reliability and stability, the systems servicing and maintenance requirements are very low. The compact, lightweight design and small footprint require very little space, which is convenient for restricted space in the operating room, or when the system needs to be transported to multiple locations. The Visalis 100 system is a product of Carl Zeiss Meditec (Oberkochen, Germany).
