An innovative surgical lighting system delivers cool, abundant, natural light with a precisely balanced light spot, and functionality.Posted on 17 Mar 2010
The SlimLED system offers a space-efficient, lightweight, streamlined form that reduces the thickness of the light head to a trim 6.5 cm at its thickest point; this gives surgeons a less formidable light fixture to maneuver, allowing them to concentrate on their tasks during procedures. Open handles secured onto the sides of the light head allow the crew to firmly grip and reposition the light it quickly and easily; the handles glow with a blue light for easy identification, providing a welcome aesthetic contrast to operating rooms (ORs).

The SlimLED renders genuine colors with a color rendering Index (CRI) of 95 and true red tones, offering consistent deep-cavity illumination that follow the guidelines of shadow-free lighting standards. Four light emitting diode (LED) bulbs, placed on the side handles, are provided for minimally invasive surgery (MIS) lighting mode. The user can easily access the control panel via touch buttons to adjust the light pattern, intensity, and power. Focal length distances can also be quickly changed, using one of three convenient settings. The homogeneous light cylinder generated by the slimLED can be adapted to various working distances, accommodating surgeon preferences and procedural conditions. Due to the thin profile and ultralight weight, the SlimLED can be safely and quickly installed, removed, or exchanged in a matter of minutes, with a minimal expense of effort.
The SlimLED also provides supports for 19” flat panel displays and in-light cameras with a 40x zoom ratio (10x optical/4x digital) that deliver high quality images for video broadcasting, medical education, and conferencing applications. The SlimLED system is a product of MediLand Enterprise Corporation (Taoyuan Hsien, Taiwan).
