Innovative light emitting diode (LED) technology eliminates radiated heat under the lamp and on the surgeons’ heads in the operating room (OR).

The STARLED 5 with LED technology offers reduced dimensions, extended service duration, low energy consumption, high performance, lack of heat, and exceptional color-rendering index (CRI). The lamp is suitable for minimally invasive surgery (MIS) thanks to the proprietary LIGHT-UP system, which emits beams of light from the upper part of the lamp that allow perfect visualization of the surgical field during video monitoring of the patient and during microscope-aided procedures.

Composed of 50 LEDs circularly positioned around the handle, the OR lamp generates a light spot of 21 cm circumference at one meter, with a high illumination level of 135.000 lux (optionally 160.000 lux) for a steady life cycle of about 50,000 hours. The STARLED 5 guarantees a CRI of 95 with a color temperature of 4,900 K. The combination of the two values allows the reproduction of the exact chromatic scale of the colors of the human body.

The STARLED 5 can produce both a focused illumination field and a uniform ambient one, thanks to a manual focusing system situated in the central handle of the lamp. Additional lateral handles make the OR lamp easy to move and reposition. The shape of the lamp was designed to compensate for laminar flows and thus avoids obstructing airflows inside the OR, reducing turbulence areas and providing visual comfort. The design also takes into consideration sanitary requirements, and is made of a smooth, scratch resistant material that makes cleaning quick, easy, and complete. The easy to grip central handle can be extracted and autoclaved.

According to the needs in the operating room, the STARLED 5 can be delivered in several different configurations, such as a double (twin) configuration, in combination with the OT-STARLED 7, or in combination with the STARLED3 EVO PLUS. The STARLED 5 Double and OT-STARLED 7 configurations can be supplied with synchronized controls, simplifying use as well as allowing the system to be managed by just a single operator. If requested, the central handle can be fitted with fixed focus or zoom video camera for precise and constant recording of the intervention. The STARLED 5, STARLED3 EVO PLUS, and the OT-STARLED 7 are products of ACEM Medical Company (Bologna, Italy).
