Specialized foam specifically designed for use as a postsurgical compression device aids body contouring and liposuction procedures.

Epi-Foam is a self-adhering medical grade silicone-backed polyurethane compression foam that is intended for use immediately after traditional or ultrasonic liposuction procedures, designed to provide a more even compression distribution. Patient comfort is achieved by using advanced, soft, small cell, polyurethane materials to create the compression barrier between the patient's skin and the postoperative garment. The unique silicone-gel surface provides a gentle adherent interface that helps avoid the problems associated with more aggressively adherent foam pads.

Liposuction compression garments are recommended by surgeons to reduce swelling and improve appearance of the treatment site. The Epi-Foam polyurethane foam provides for exceptional conformance to three-dimensional (3D) contours such as hips, waist, thighs, and chins; improved compression distribution assistance in smoothing the skin and helping to reduce the "wavering" or "rippling" effect frequently associated with liposuction; and reducing postoperative bruising and swelling. Epi-Foam is a product of Biodermis (Henderson, NV, USA); each pad is 20 x 30 centimeters square, and is supplied in packaged sets of three pads.

“We believe Epi-Foam postoperative compression pads fill a gap in the postoperative recovery market, providing patients with unmatched comfort, minimized pain, and superior results that are simply not possible with any other product,” said Jeff Schleuning , PhD, executive vice president of Biodermis.
