Surgical removal of bone and soft tissue requires controlled resection with sufficient power and precision. In demanding neurosurgical procedures, workflow efficiency, ergonomics, and system integration can also influence how surgical teams use tissue removal platforms. Supporting these needs, a new ultrasonic tissue removal system has launched with enhanced power, precision, and versatility.

Stryker has launched Sonopet 3, the latest version of its ultrasonic bone and soft tissue removal platform. The system has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance and was developed with input from hundreds of surgeons. Designed as a single platform for tissue removal, Sonopet 3 incorporates surgeon feedback to improve performance, workflow efficiency, and alignment with clinical needs.

The system provides access to RISE, or Reimagined Integrated Surgical Experience, which is designed to support a more connected surgical workflow. It also includes Pulse Control, giving surgeons added control over the resection of hard and soft tissues. Together, these features are intended to improve integration across surgical workflows and support use in different surgical settings.

The first clinical cases using Sonopet 3 are expected to begin in October, with a full commercial launch anticipated later this fall. The platform expands Stryker’s neurosurgical portfolio with a system designed to deliver enhanced power, precision, versatility, ergonomics, and integration.

“At Stryker, innovation begins with listening to our customers. Every major advancement in Sonopet 3 can be attributed to surgeon feedback, and together we’re elevating the standard in neurosurgery. They told us they wanted more power, improved ergonomics and enhanced integration, helping them perform with confidence in demanding surgical environments,” said Mitch Foley, vice president and general manager of Stryker’s Neurosurgical business.
