A strategic alliance to co-develop scaleable, customizable, and cost-effective management solutions for endoscopy images has been announced by Smith & Nephew Inc., Endoscopy Division (Andover, MA, USA), and Commercial Concepts, Inc. (CCI, Salt Lake City, UT, USA).Posted on 26 Jul 2001
Under the agreement, Smith & Nephew will integrate its digital imaging products with CCI's PictureBase Medical software platform to develop an operating room solution that provides advanced patient reporting, archiving, and storage capabilities. The new system will provide surgeons with the ability to immediately capture images as they operate, print photo-quality copies in real-time, and archive images on a database within a hospital's local area network (LAN)—thereby providing hospitals and other medical centers with centralized case reporting capabilities. In addition, doctors will be able to access the images from any location with an Internet connection.
"At Smith & Nephew, we continuously seek ways to harness the power of technology for the benefit of physicians,” said Ron Sparks, president of Smith & Nephew. "This strategic partnership with CCI is another important step in that direction.”
