New Huber Needle Minimizes Needlestick Danger

A new Huber needle infusion set is designed to eliminate the risk of rebound-effect neeedlestick injuries that can cause exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

Huber needles pose a high risk of injury due to the rebound injuries that can occur when removing the needle from an intravenous port. Because they are often used for venous access in AIDS/HIV patients, they pose a particular risk for exposure to blood-borne pathogens. A new infusion set, called Surecan Safety Huber Needle Infusion Set, incorporates patented passive safety clip technology designed to minimize accidental needlesticks when accessing subcutaneously implanted ports. A stainless steel safety clip automatically shields the needle tip as it is withdrawn from the base plate.
