GE Licenses Pulse Oximetry Technology

GE Medical Systems Information Technologies (Milwaukee, WI, USA) has signed a licensing agreement that will allow the company to offer the Signal Extraction pulse oximetry technology of Masimo Corp. (Irvine, CA, USA) as a platform choice for its line of patient monitoring systems. In addition, GE made a US$5 million equity investment in Masimo.Posted on 19 Oct 2000
Masimo's Signal Extraction pulse oximetry is a noninvasive technology used to obtain a patient's oxygenation level and provide healthcare professionals with a reliable source of information for treatment. Masimo pioneered motion and low-perfusion pulse oximetry,
and its technology has been proven clinically accurate in more than 20 independent studies, states the company.
"Masimo Signal Extraction Technology will be a powerful addition to our line of industry-leading monitoring and clinical information systems,” said Kevin King, vice president of Clinical Systems, GE Medical Systems Information Technologies.
