New Hand-Held Electrocardiograph

A new hand-held electrocardiograph (ECG) that is smaller and weighs less than a laptop computer is designed for use in clinics, doctors' offices, and on housecoats--anywhere the clinicians needs 12-lead ECG data and immediate pre- and post-viewing of waveforms.

Called PageWriter 10/10i, the device is from Alight Technologies (Palo Alto, CA, USA; www.agilent.com). PageWriter stores up to 30 ECG waveforms for retrieval, and an infrared adapter provides a wireless connection to any compatible external printer. A clinician can produce ECG reports in six different formats, and can transmit ECG reports through fax modem or to a PC with Agilent's ECG manager software.
