A portable but rugged ultrasound system featuring transcranial Doppler (TCD) has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The system has a built-in thermal printer for fast diagnostic studies and bedside reporting. Other features include a large color display and familiar software operation. The complete system is contained in a sturdy aluminum case.Posted on 04 Sep 2000
The system, called the EME Legend, is from Nicolet Vascular Inc. (Golden, CO, USA). Nicolet says the system is well-suited for a new practice or a cost-effective second unit for larger facilities. The company notes it was the first to introduce a commercial TCD system, in the early 1980s. The new Legend joins the company's EME Pioneer and EME Companion TCD systems.
