A new spirometry solution helps primary care physicians conduct lung function testing at the point of care (POC).
The EasyOne Air is a portable, connected spirometry device that requires no calibration, warm-up time, or maintenance. An intuitive, full-color touch screen display ensures accurate and immediate results through real-time curves and parameters. The device connects via USB to a computer for direct printing and downloading, with an added option of portability through a secure Bluetooth connection, providing seamless integration to the patients’ electronic medical record (EMR) via EasyOne Connect, a platform for all EasyOne point-of-care solutions.
EasyOne Air is powered by propriety ultrasound flow technology that anticipates interfering variables, allowing it to function independently of gas composition, pressure, temperature, and humidity, thus ensuring a consistent, standardized test that is based on American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society (ATS/ERS) guidelines. Test types include FVC, FVL, SVC, MVV, and Pre/Post Testing. EasyOne Air is a product of ndd Medical Technologies (Zurich, Switzerland), and has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“EasyOne Air is a flexible and reliable tool for healthcare professionals to accurately diagnose lung health. This new model includes ndd’s TrueFlow technology for the most accurate way to diagnose the growing number of patients suffering from COPD and other chronic lung diseases,” said Georg Harnoncourt, CEO of ndd Medical Technologies. “The earlier a physician can diagnose a patient, the faster they can offer treatment. The sooner a patient begins treatment, the better their quality of life.”
Spirometry is the most common pulmonary function test (PFT); it measures lung function, specifically the volume and/or flow of air inhaled and exhaled, which is helpful in assessing breathing patterns that identify conditions such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Spirometry generates pneumotachograph charts that plot the volume and flow of air coming in and out of the lungs from one inhalation and one exhalation.
