Memorial Hermann Health System (Houston, TX, USA) is planning to construct a new medical campus in Cypress (TX, USA), with an investment of approximately USD 168 million.

The new campus is being built to accommodate the needs of area's current population of roughly 355,000 residents, which is expected to grow over the next decade. Phase I of the construction, which will include a fully-licensed emergency center and medical office building offering convenient, primary care and ambulatory services, is expected to start in early 2015 and to be completed by early 2016. The crucial Phase II includes the construction of an 80-bed acute care hospital, and is expected to be completed in 2017.

The hospital will comprise eight operating rooms (ORs), a 16-bed intensive care unit (ICU), a neonatal intensive care unit (nICU), and a cardiac catheterization lab. The Cypress campus master plan also includes the capacity to expand inpatient beds to 275 to accommodate future growth, as well as the construction of a dedicated Memorial Hermann Life Flight helipad, and space for two additional medical office buildings. The campus will be built on a 32-acre site located on the northeast side of Highway 290.

“The Cypress region is one of the fastest growing in our area. We recognize that as the community continues to grow so will their health needs,” said Dan Wolterman, president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Health System. “When this campus is completed, residents in the Cypress community will have immediate access to high quality and safe patient care, as well as advanced services that only a clinically-integrated, comprehensive health system can deliver. We look forward to being the area’s healthcare provider of choice for many years into the future.”

Memorial Hermann Healthcare System is the largest not-for-profit hospital system in Houston (TX, USA), and consists of 12 hospitals, seven cancer centers, three heart & vascular Institutes, and 27 sports medicine and rehabilitation centers, in addition to other outpatient and rehabilitation centers. It was formed in the late 1990s when the Memorial and Hermann systems joined.
