Liaison Healthcare and MedcomSoft Partner for Connectivity

Liaison Healthcare (Atlanta, GA, USA) has entered into a strategic partnership with MedcomSoft (Johnstown, PA, USA), connecting their Record EHR platform to the Liaison EMR-Link Lab Hub.

The Liaison Healthcare EMR-Link is a cloud-based software solution that facilities the process of ordering and receiving patient laboratory tests and results via a simple workflow and electronic interface for multiple lab or imaging vendors, directly at the clinical desktop. Supporting more than 1,200 customers in the healthcare industry, the EMR-Link system connects laboratories to any electronic health record (EHR) system, thus allowing physicians, clinicians, and laboratories to realize reductions in cost and time by streamlining the lab ordering workflow processes.

The partnership with MedcomSoft will allow them to connect 15,000 clinicians and over 120 lab and radiology customers to the Liaison Healthcare EMR-Link lab hub, providing them with greater access to more than 120 labs and imaging departments currently integrated within the Liaison EMR-Link Lab Hub around the US. This will enable healthcare providers to use one single platform to harmonize complex and disparate data and achieve the automation of the majority of tasks required for efficient and effective management of their practices and practice patients.

“EHR providers struggle with the decision to build or buy functionality to enable lab and radiology computerized physician order entry; Liaison Healthcare provides another option,” said Gary Palgon, vice president of healthcare solutions at Liaison Healthcare. “Our EMR-Link Partner Program offers a cloud-based solution that is a cost-effective approach providing integrated access to labs currently in our EMR-Link hub, and the ability to rapidly integrate to other labs the practices need; allowing EHR vendors to stay focused on their core business.”

“We have lab orders and results capability in our EHR platform, but expanding to add other lab and radiology interfaces takes us away from our core goals and expertise,” said Shawn Long, CEO of MedcomSoft. “We want to be laser focused on providing our customers an EHR solution that supports all their needs, but we know that it's best to leverage experts for critical patient components.

As EHR vendors work to expand their solutions to insure their customers are able to achieve Meaningful Use of computerized physician order entry (CPOE) objectives, some decide to internally build lab orders and results capabilities. But many times it becomes a resource drain that continues to grow and build upon itself as their customers request more and more lab interfaces. The Liaison EMR-Link is an alternative that does not add costs or require new resources to provide enhanced capabilities and scalability.
