Wanda (San Francisco, CA, USA) has signed a deal with a Dignity Health (San Francisco, CA, USA) to launch a digital health oncology care platform that will enable medical professionals to make informed oncological treatment decisions.

The OncoVerse digital healthcare platform will enable care teams to collaborate in real time, across all disciplines, in order to determine the most effective treatment plan for cancer patients. The virtual care collaboration platform enables unprecedented information-sharing capabilities through geographically dispersed, structured collaboration of the multidisciplinary care team, expanding the reach of clinical decision-making support to rural and remote areas, thus enabling patients in those locations to benefit from insights previously only shared at large medical centers.

The digital healthcare platform also allows medical professionals to highlight cancer-related cases for evidence-based peer collaboration, review, treatment recommendations and second opinions that are available 24/7 from any computer or other web-enabled device. Wanda is a NetScientific (London, United Kingdom) portfolio company. NetScientific is a transatlantic biomedical and healthcare group that funds, develops, and manages early/mid-stage healthcare technology companies sourced from strategic partnerships and relationships in the USA and Europe with a primary focus on digital health, diagnostics and therapeutics.

“OncoVerse will streamline and support the decision making processes of Dignity Health's physicians and other supporting health care professionals by ensuring that the entire care team has the right information at the right time, which reinforces the power of personalized medicine,” said Steve Curd, CEO of Wanda. “As cancer therapies continue to advance, facilitating individualized cancer decision support is well-aligned with Wanda's mission: improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the management of chronic conditions.”

“Dignity Health is committed to developing partnerships that harness the tremendous potential of technology to help providers and patients make better day-to-day decisions about care,” said Costanzo DiPerna, MD, medical director for the Dignity Health Cancer Institute of the Greater Sacramento region and chief of thoracic surgery. “We are excited to work with Wanda and deliver on our vision to provide the highest quality patient care.”

OncoVerse was initially conceived by a Dignity Health physician who wanted a tool to improve team collaboration, especially when evaluating a complex cancer case and determining the appropriate treatment plan. Dignity Health engaged Wanda to develop the software due to the company's proven track record to support informed treatment decisions, and to reduce administrative costs. Wanda and Dignity Health intend to jointly market the Oncoverse platform to other oncology programs across the US later in 2016.
